
Outstanding success of the international conference: ‘Positive Impact of Intellectual Property Protection: the Horizon of Cooperation’, organised by the International University Chair in Intellectual Property Protection of the University of Alicante. The Chair is a partnership between the University and the private sector, promoted by the Commercial Law Department of the University of Alicante and the Alibaba Group International. More than twenty top international speakers, experts in the different fields of intellectual property, participated in this exceptional event, including: Elisa Rodriguez Ortiz, Director General of the OEPM, Esperanza Gallego and Pilar Montero from the University of Alicante, José Antonio Moreno Campos, Director Global IP Enforcement team ALIBABA GROUP, Mauricio Escanilla, Claudio Bergonzi from Alibaba Group, Ivan L. Sempere from PADIMA, Marco Musumeci of UNICRI – United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, Magdalena Jakubicz of Cisco, Sofian Baghriche of the International Olympic Committee – IOC, Marta Castillo Gonzalez of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), José Luis Gómez of the National Police, Raquel Herrero of the Civil Guard, Bérengère Dreno and Nicole Semjevski of EUIPO, and Joao Amaral of INPI.
The event was opened by Luis Alfonso Martínez Giner, Vice-Rector for Academic Organisation and Professors at the University of Alicante, together with Esperanza Gallego Sánchez, Commercial Law Professor at the University of Alicante and Director of the Chair, and Rafael Fernández, Director of the Alicante Chamber of Commerce.
The inaugural conference was given by Pablo Garde, Undersecretary of State for Industry and Tourism and President of the SPTO.
The closing panel was integrated by Graham Clemence, Senior Director for Global IP Enforcement & Security at Alibaba Group, and Andrea di Carlo, Deputy Executive Director of EUIPO, who closed the first edition of this conference.
This international conference is intended to be a forum for analysis, debate and research in the field of Intellectual Property Rights protection, developing a formative programme and disseminating research contributing to better education and greater knowledge of Intellectual Property Rights. The event launches a programme of future academic, informative and institutional collaboration activities.
