From the Commercial Law Department and the Magister Lvcentinvs, , we would like to express our gratitude for the success of the conference: 30 YEARS OF TRIPS: CURRENT CHALLENGES IN TRADEMARKS, INDUSTRIAL DESIGNS AND COPYRIGHT, held last Friday in Alicante. This conference was organised under the direction of Professor Esperanza Gallego,
Full Professor of Commercial Law and Director of the Chair of International Intellectual Property Protection; Professor Pilar Iñiguez, Director of the specialist degree in Patents, Technology Transfer and Digital Innovations of the Magister Lvcentinvs, and José Antonio Gil Celedonio, Permanent representative of the Minister for Industry and Tourism at the
Permanent Representation of Spain to the European Union.
The opening speech was given by the Executive Director of the EUIPO – European Union Intellectual Property Office, Mr. João Negrão, who
highlighted the relevance of the latest EUIPO achievements regarding IP rights as tools for economic progress.
The closing ceremony was addressed by Ms. Carmen Paez Soria, Undersecretary of Culture at the Ministry of Culture, responsible for Copyright in Spain, followed by Ms Elisa Rodriguez Ortiz , Director General of the Spanish Patent and Trade Mark Office (OEPM ES). This closing
ceremony was led by Professor Pilar Montero, Director of Magister Lvcentinvs, and in this ceremony was also attended by Lara Chaguaceda Bermúdez, Deputy Director General of Intellectual Property.
After a welcome speech adressed by Mr. Juan Llopis, Director of Institutional
Relations and Projects at the UA – Universidad de Alicante / Universitat d’Alacant , and Professor Pilar Iñiguez, Co-director of this conference, the attendants had the privilege to attend three round tables with exceptional speakers such as:
