Opening Ceremony of the 32nd edition of Magister Lvcentinvs, Master´s Degree in Intellectual Property and Digital Innovation

Last Friday we celebrated the Opening Ceremony of the 32nd edition of Magister Lvcentinvs, Master´s Degree in Intellectual Property and Digital Innovation at the UA – Universidad de Alicante / Universitat d’Alacant of Alicante.

In this event, chaired by the Vice-Rector for Continuing Education and Languages, Prof. Rosabel Roig Vila, we had the honour of attending speeches by representatives of the Intellectual Property Offices cooperating with the Magister. In this regard, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Prof. Vladia Borissova, PhD, Director of the Academy EUIPO – European Union Intellectual Property Office, for her inspiring speech to the new students of the Master´s programme, highlighting the value of IP as the driving force behind EU innovators, as well as its importance in achieving a more resilient ecosystem. Many thanks also to Ms María José de Concepción Sánchez, Deputy Director and Director of the Patent and Technological Information Department of the OEPM ES, for highlighting the importance of IP as an asset for companies and countries.

Our appreciation to Ms Natalia Gonzalez-Alberto, Advisory Member of the Sub-Directorate General for Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Culture, who highlighted the importance of having a specialised and solid education in IP in order to face the challenges we are experiencing today. The opening ceremony ended with a tribute to the name of the Master´s programme, with a digital innovation, which was the speech by the President of the European Patent Office, Mr António Campinos, through an audio-visual creation generated by Artificial Intelligence. We would like to thank him for his motivating words to the students starting the Master´s programme, particularly his reference to the fact that the future of Europe will depend on how we share knowledge and how we creatively engage the next generation of IP leaders.

This event was led by the professors from the Commercial Law Department organising the Lvcentinvs Master´s programme:

Prof. Esperanza Gallego, Full Professor and Director of the university specialist degree in Innovations in Plants and Quality Signs;

Prof. NURIA FERNÁNDEZ PÉREZ , Full Professor, Director of the Commercial Law Department and Director of the university specialist degree in Trade Marks, Designs, Competition Law and Copyright;

Prof. Pilar Montero, Full Professor and Director of the Magister Lvcentinvs;

Prof. Pilar Iñiguez, Full Professor and Director of the university specialist degree in Patents, Technology Transfer and Digital Innovations.

The event was also attended by the Director of the UA Lifelong Learning Education Centre, Porf. Teresa Torregrosa, the University of Alicante´s centre of reference for the management of UA studies, the President of the European Union Trade Mark Court, Mr Enrique García-Chamón as well as other professors and collaborators of the Magister Lvcentinvs.
